So I'm sitting on the shoulder of I 20 near Covington, Georgia for almost an hour now with an exploded inside trailer tire. At least 150 trucks have passed by and not one call on the CB asking, "You alright there driver?" Its so sad out here the way things are now. wtf.gifwtf-2.gif moo

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Hey brother,

I promise ya, if I saw ya, I'd make the effort and take time to help. Good Karma. Regardless, I know a post doesn't help you, but, hopefully help will be there to save the day (or night!). Be safe.

Weatherman, it's hard for people to ask if your ok when they don't run CB's. I see fewer and fewer people not running CB's why I don't know. One of the reasons I assume is because all of the garbage that is spewed on Sesame Street (ch 19). I run mine the one day of the week I drive but I'm normally rolling with 2 other guys and we are on are own channel.

Thought I'd check in to see if Weatherman got the help he needed. Hope all went well. Since I've never been a driver, I sure didn't think about the other drivers not having on their radios (I didn't think CB's were still used, lol). But, although everyone's on a schedule to make money, wouldn't it have been possible for someone to make an effort to pull over and see if the guy needed help? I could try and imagine that it'd be a pain for other drivers to do that, but, I dunno, it's easy for me to make comment (I probably shouldn't have!) not being a driver. Regardless, wish Weatherman well!

Safe travels,

Here are a few things to ponder

1. The time that you are thinking about is in the past. In the past we did not have cell phones to call for help. We did not have Qualcom to call for help. Drivers tend to think that someone has already been called. I pass broke down trucks all the time but in the winter when it is below say 40° then I stop for car or truck.

2. A lot of trucks no longer have CBs in them.

3. New breed of driver is all about the ME generation and can not be bothered to lend a hand.

With the advantage of today's technology help is only a short period away.

Appreciate the good thoughts folks but I think my post got misunderstood somewhat. Pat M hit it on the head as to where I was going with my rant. Although I've only been driving 5 years, I've been around trucking most of my life, so a lot of my expectations are Old School based. I never pass a truck that's stopped on the shoulder without at least asking if they need help. I understand drivers not running CB's and such, but it just boggles my mind that NOT ONE PERSON even made that call to me. No, my life wasn't in danger and I had help on the way, but I just can't believe it. Guess I should continue to lower my expectations of the human race. LOL. By the way, rest assured I WILL NOT pass you by on the shoulder without checking on you. confused.gif
